Reported Pregnancy Highlights
Key Facts
•There were 14,521 reported pregnancies to Delaware residents in 2000: 11,046 live births, 33 fetal deaths, and 3,442 induced terminations (see technical notes for a description of reported pregnancies). (See Table D-1).
• Women of Hispanic origin (17.9%) and women whose race was classified as "other" (16.7%) had the lowest percentage of pregnancies that ended in induced termination in 2000. (see Table D-2) .
• The four-year average (1997-2000) pregnancy rate for 18-19 year olds was highest in Sussex County (168.4 pregnancies per 1,000 females ) and lowest in New Castle County (113.6). (See Table D-5) .
• The four-year average (1997-2000) pregnancy rate for 15-17 year olds was lowest in Kent County, with 49.8 pregnancies per 1,000 females ; both New Castle and Sussex County had a rate of 57.6. (SeeTable D-5) .
