DRINKING WATER NOTICE

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT YOUR DRINKING WATER

Lead and Copper Monitoring Requirements Not Met for
Savannah Place Homeowner Association, PWSID#: DE0000060

Our water system violated a drinking water monitoring requirement over the past year. Even though this was not an emergency, as our customers, you have a right to know what happened and what we did to correct these situations. We are required to monitor your drinking water for specific contaminants on a regular basis. Results of regular monitoring are an indicator of whether or not our drinking water meets health standards. During January 1 to December 31, 2005, we did not monitor for Lead and Copper and therefore cannot be sure of the quality of our drinking water during that time.

What should I do?

There is nothing you need to do at this time.

The table below lists the contaminants we did not properly test for during the last year. It also shows how often we are supposed to sample for these contaminants; how many samples we are supposed to take; how many samples we took; when samples should have been taken; and the date on which follow-up samples will be taken.

Contaminant Required Sampling Frequency Number of Samples Taken When All Samples Should Have Been Taken When Samples Will Be Taken
Lead 5 samples for 2 consecutive six-month periods 0 January 1 to June 30, 2005 & July 1 to December 31, 2005 January 1 to June 30, 2008
Copper 5 samples for 2 consecutive six-month periods 0 January 1 to June 30, 2005 & July 1 to December 31, 2005 January 1 to June 30, 2008

What happened? What is being done?

Savannah Place Homeowner Association failed to collect the required lead and copper samples, and report the results to the Division of Public Health, Office of Drinking Water. Once Savannah Place Homeowners Association has collected the appropriate number of samples for two consecutive monitoring periods and the results are submitted to the Office of Drinking Water, the system will be in considered returned to compliance and the notice will be lifted.

For more information, please contact Jonathan Sharp at (302) 645-4259 or Rebecca Gibbs Fahey, Environmental Health Specialist II, with the Office of Drinking Water, at (302) 741-8598
