How can I get help with home modifications?

Home modifications generally refer to changes that are made to a person's home to assist him or her live independently.  A home modification might include, for example, the installation of a ramp or handrails.

The Division of Services for Aging and Adults with Physical Disabilities (DSAAPD) has Specialized Service funds to assist with home modifications for eligible individuals. For more information about this service, see the home modification section of our website or contact us.

The Division of Vocational Rehabilitation has funds to assist eligible adults with physical disabilities and will do assessments for ramps, stair glides, etc. In New Castle County call (302) 378-5779; in Kent County (302) 739-5478; and in Sussex County (302) 856-5730.

DE/MD Paralyzed Veterans Association provides home modification services, as well.  Call toll-free 1-800-786-2039 or in New Castle County  (302) 368-4898.
