PICKERING BEACH RESIDENTS CAN RESUME USING HOUSEHOLD WATER
Residents served by the water system at Pickering Beach outside of Dover may resume using their drinking water today following test results received by Delaware's Division of Public Health. Residents no longer need to boil water for drinking or cooking. The Delaware National Guard has been advised that its mobile water source or "water buffalo" can be removed from the community.
DPH issued a boil water notice for Pickering Beach on May 13 after heavy rains and flooding fostered growth of E. coli bacteria in the community's water. Water samples collected by DPH on June 13 and June 16 were absent for total coliform and E. coli bacteria.
Delaware Health and Social Services is committed to improving the quality of the lives of Delaware's citizens by promoting health and well-being, fostering self-sufficiency, and protecting vulnerable populations.
