MEDIA ADVISORY: NEW CASTLE COUNTY FLU IMMUNIZATION EVENT


WHO: The Honorable Jack Markell, Governor, State of Delaware

WHAT: The Delaware Division of Public Health (DPH) will launch preparations for the 2014-2015 flu season by offering free influenza vaccinations. Between 1976 and 2006, estimates of annual flu-associated deaths in the United States range from about 3,000 to about 49,000 people, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, making flu a significant health threat.
WHEN: Friday, October 10, 2014 from 3:30 p.m. - 4:15 p.m.
Free vaccinations available to the public from 3:00 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.
WHERE: New Castle Farmers Market on the inside stage

VISUALS: Vaccination of Governor Markell and Secretary Landgraf. DPH nurses will administer intramuscular flu vaccine for ages 9 years and above. Clients who sign a media consent form may be photographed.
