Dogs and cats have a tendency to get into any and everything. Although their curiosity is a part of their nature, it could also make them sick or worse.

The most common toxins cats and dogs ingest include:

Human medications, prescription and over-the counter
Insecticides
Household cleaners
People food, such as onions, garlic, grapes, raisins and xylitol
Veterinary products and medications
Chocolate
Rodenticides (mouse and rat poison)

If you think that your pet may have ingested a potentially poisonous substance, don’t hesitate to call the Animal Poison Control Center at 1-888-426-4435 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. We recommend you keep this number handy in case of an emergency.

Do not call poison control if your pet is already exhibiting signs of toxicity, in which case, get them to the nearest veterinarian immediately.
