Support for Participant Direction
| Program/Service description | Support for Participant Direction provides assistance to individuals enrolled in the Medicaid Waiver for the Elderly and Disabled who self-direct personal care services. (Persons who "self-direct" employ and supervise their own personal care attendants.) The goal of the program is to help individuals to successfully manage their responsibilities as employers and to utilize personal care services to live as independently as possible. Support for Participant Direction providers assist in a number of ways, including screening potential personal care attendants, processing payroll and taxes, and developing personal care plans. |

*Public funding means that the program is paid for, in part or in whole, by the government. Some publicly-funded programs have eligibility requirements and provide services at low cost or no cost to people who qualify. Most of these programs and services though, are also available to people who are able to pay privately (with their own money).
