Healthy Workplaces - Employers - Construction

According to the National Safety Council, agriculture is the most hazardous industry in the nation.

Agriculture is an important part of our society providing foodstuffs and other products used everyday. During agricultural and food processing operations your employees could risk exposure to chemicals and situations that could affect their health, including:

  • Pesticides and fertilizers
  • Solvents and industrial chemicals
  • Toxics fumes and gases
  • Physical hazards of working with and around equipment and machinery
  • Dusty environments and weather extremes

Education:

  • Provide training that helps employees avoid accidents and injuries.
  • Prepare Healthy and Safety Plans that outline all procedures on the job site.

Awareness:

  • Anticipate and be prepared to deal with harsh weather conditions.
  • Encourage workers to be aware and report unsafe conditions and actions.

Prevention:

  • Ensure that equipment is maintained properly and operated safely.
  • Provide employees with necessary personal protective equipment (PPE)
