Given the extremely high volume of influenza cases so early in the season, we are\n\n\n  asking our partners to limit specimen submission at this time to ten specimens a week per site.\n\n\n<\/p>\n\n\n<p>\n\n\n  At this time, providers are asked to make decisions regarding submission of specimens based on the clinical criteria outlined by the CDC,\n\n\n  available at:\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/flu\/professionals\/diagnosis\/testing_algorithm.htm\">http:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/flu\/professionals\/diagnosis\/testing_algorithm.htm<\/a>\n\n\n<\/p>\n\n\n<p>\n\n\n  Factors which are key considerations under these criteria include:\n\n\n<\/p>\n\n\n<ul>\n\n\n  <li>The impact influenza virus testing results will have (or will not) on the clinical care of the patients being tested (including\n\n\n  hospitalized and high risk patients); and\n\n\n  <\/li>\n\n\n  <li>The extent to which influenza virus testing results will (or will not) influence one\u2019s clinical practice for other patients.\n\n\n  <\/li>\n\n\n<\/ul><br>\n\n\n<p>\n\n\n  For more information contact the DPH Laboratory at (302) 223-1520.\n\n\n<\/p>\n\n\n<p>\n\n\n  ******************\n\n\n<\/p>\n\n\n<p>\n\n\n  You are receiving this message because you are a registered member of the Delaware Health Alert Network.
