color: rgb(178, 170, 164); font-size: 20px;\"><span style=\"color:#800000;\"><strong>DPH Mobile Unit<\/strong><\/span><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<p>The Division of Public Health performs Blood Lead Screenings (Capillary Fingerstick), as well as the following health services, through its Community Health Services Mobile Unit:<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<ul>\n\n\n\n <li>HIV Testing, Counseling and Referral<\/li>\n\n\n\n <li>COVID-19 Testing<\/li>\n\n\n\n <li><a href=\"http:\/\/de.gov\/getmyvaccine\">COVID-19 Vaccinations<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n <li><a href=\"http:\/\/flu.delaware.gov\">Flu Shots<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n <li>Clinical and Community Resource Connections<\/li>\n\n\n\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<p>The Mobile Unit is wheelchair accessible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<p>Vaccination and testing require patient and\/or guardian consent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<p>No appointment is necessary; walk-ins are welcome. Dress for the weather as the wait line and check ins are outside. For health privacy reasons, only one family at a time is able to enter the unit. Units are not in service on State Holidays or weekends.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-size:20px;\"><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/dph\/pdf\/LeadScreeningStateServiceCenters.pdf\"><strong>State Service Centers Providing Blood Lead Testing\u00a0<\/strong><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<p>REMINDER:<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<ul>\n\n\n\n <li><span style=\"font-size: 1em;\">Bring your child\u2019s medical record to the appointment.<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n <li>A parent or legal guardian must be with children under 18 years of age.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<p>To see other steps we are taking to reduce the threat of lead poisoning in Delaware, visit our <a href=\"\/dph\/hsp\/lead.html\">Lead Poisoning Prevention page<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Childhood Lead Screening:\u00a0 Next Steps<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<p>Delaware\u2019s Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Act requires that all children be screened for lead at 12 months of age, and again at 24 months of age.\u00a0 Proof of screening is required for enrollment in childcare and kindergarten.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<p>While there is no safe level of lead in children\u2019s blood, capillary screening results 3.5 \u00b5g\/dL or higher are considered \u201celevated\u201d and require further action.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step 1.\u00a0 Confirmatory Test.<\/strong>\u00a0 Capillary screening results 3.5 \u00b5g\/dL or higher require a confirmatory venous test.\u00a0 Please contact your child\u2019s primary care physician for this confirmatory venous blood lead test.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<p>The CDC\u2019s recommended schedule for obtaining a confirmatory venous test is as follows and becomes more urgent with higher screening results:<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<ul>\n\n\n\n <li>3.5 to 9.9 \u00b5g\/dL &#8211; testing within 1 to 3 months<\/li>\n\n\n\n <li>10 to 44 \u00b5g\/dL &#8211; testing within 1 week to 1 month<\/li>\n\n\n\n <li>45 to 59 \u00b5g\/dL &#8211; testing within 48 hours<\/li>\n\n\n\n <li>60 to 69 \u00b5g\/dL &#8211; testing within 24 hours<\/li>\n\n\n\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<p>If the venous test confirms an elevated blood lead level, follow-up testing to track changes to the blood lead level may be necessary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step 2.\u00a0 Identify and Remove the Source of Exposure.<\/strong>\u00a0 Lead can be found in numerous places in the home and in a child\u2019s environment, including lead dust from peeling paint, contaminated soil, drinking water (pipes\/solder), vintage dinnerware as recent as 2005, certain food items, imported spices, imported cookware, imported makeup, costume jewelry, toys, imported supplements, and more.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<p>Delaware\u2019s Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program will mail a packet of information to assist parents in identifying the source of exposure, and families may receive a free home risk assessment if the confirmatory venous test is 10 \u00b5g\/dL or higher.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<p>Residents of certain zip codes in New Castle County may be eligible for home remediation.\u00a0 The No Lead program addresses and remediates lead hazards in homes within 5 zip codes:\u00a0 19703, 19720, 19801,19802, 19805, and 19806.
