Its mission is to end TB in the State of Delaware by detecting, treating, and preventing TB. The Tuberculosis Elimination and Control Branch is made up of the <a href=\"\/dph\/chs\/nursing.html\">Office of Public Health Nursing<\/a>, <a href=\"\/dph\/epi\/epi.html\">Office of Infectious Disease Epidemiology<\/a>, and the <a href=\"\/dph\/lab\/labs.html\">Delaware Public Health Laboratory<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\r\n        <p><span style=\"font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">TB is not a disease of the past. People around the world still get TB. There are medicines that kills TB germs. Taking these medicines can cure people of TB. The Division of Public Health (DPH) offers the medicine and treatment to people who have TB germs.<\/span><\/p>\r\n        <p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n        <h2><span style=\"font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">Reporting Cases of TB<\/span><\/h2>\r\n        <ul>\r\n          <li><span style=\"font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\"><strong>TB disease<\/strong> is a rapidly reportable condition in Delaware. Healthcare personnel must immediately report&nbsp;suspected (i.e., without waiting for laboratory confirmation) and confirmed cases of TB disease to the Office of Infectious Disease Epidemiology (OIDE). A confirmed case meets the clinical or laboratory <a href=\"https:\/\/ndc.services.cdc.gov\/case-definitions\/tuberculosis-2009\/\">case definition<\/a>.<br \/>\r\n            Cases can be reported by phone (302-744-4990, <u>normal business hours<\/u>; 1-888-295-5156, <u>outside of normal business hours<\/u>), fax (302-622-4149), or email (<a href=\"mailto:reportdisease@delaware.gov\">reportdisease@delaware.gov<\/a>). Information about what to report is available <a href=\"\/dph\/dpc\/rptdisease.html\">here<\/a>.<\/span>\r\n          <\/li>\r\n          <li>\r\n            <span style=\"font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\"><strong>TB infection, also known as latent TB<\/strong>, is not a reportable disease in Delaware. However, OIDE encourages reporting to it cases that meet the <a href=\"https:\/\/ndc.services.cdc.gov\/case-definitions\/latent-tb-infection-2018\/\">current case definition<\/a>.<\/span>\r\n            <div>\r\n              <div>&nbsp;<\/div>\r\n              <h2 style=\"margin-left: -0.4in;\"><font color=\"#a52a2a\" face=\"arial, helvetica, sans-serif\">Clinical Services<\/font><\/h2>\r\n              <p style=\"margin-left:-.4in;\"><span style=\"font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">Each county in Delaware has a TB clinic. The TB clinics are located in State Service Centers. DPH nurses and physician consultants work at the clinics. They test and treat people for tuberculosis. This includes performing interferon-gamma release assays and tuberculin skin tests. It also includes prescribing and distributing medicine that kills TB germs.
