received by Poison Control Centers each year.\n\n\n  <\/li>\n\n\n  <li>More than half the calls involve children under the age of 6.\n\n\n  <\/li>\n\n\n  <li>Every 8 minutes a child is presented to an Emergency Department due to a poisoning.\n\n\n  <\/li>\n\n\n  <li>In more than 80% of cases, the Poison Control Center can reassure families and avoid a trip to the hospital.\n\n\n  <\/li>\n\n\n  <li>In case of emergency, be sure to Save the Poison Control Center 1-800-222-1222 number in your phone.\n\n\n  <\/li>\n\n\n  <li>Poisonings can be prevented.\n\n\n  <\/li>\n\n\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<h3>\n\n\n  What if a poisoning occurs?\n\n\n<\/h3>\n\n\n<ul>\n\n\n  <li>\n\n\n    <strong>First: Stay Calm<\/strong>\n\n\n  <\/li>\n\n\n  <li>\n\n\n    <strong>Does the person have trouble breathing, or trouble staying awake?<\/strong>\n\n\n    <ul>\n\n\n      <li>YES: Call <strong>911<\/strong>\n\n\n      <\/li>\n\n\n      <li>NO: Call the Poison Control Center: <strong>1-800-222-1222<\/strong> or <strong>911.<\/strong>\n\n\n      <\/li>\n\n\n    <\/ul>\n\n\n  <\/li>\n\n\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<h3>\n\n\n  Poison Swallowed\n\n\n<\/h3>\n\n\n<ul>\n\n\n  <li>Gently wipe out mouth and rinse with water\n\n\n  <\/li>\n\n\n  <li>DO NOT induce vomiting\n\n\n  <\/li>\n\n\n  <li>If the person is already vomiting, keep them upright to prevent choking\n\n\n  <\/li>\n\n\n  <li>Call the Poison Control Center: children.\n\n\n<\/p>\n\n\n<ul>\n\n\n  <li>Keep medications up and out of sight\n\n\n  <\/li>\n\n\n  <li>Avoid taking your medications in front of young children\n\n\n  <\/li>\n\n\n  <li>Never refer to a medication as candy\n\n\n  <\/li>\n\n\n  <li>Read labels carefully\n\n\n  <\/li>\n\n\n  <li>Use measuring devices that come with the medications (not kitchen spoons)\n\n\n  <\/li>\n\n\n  <li>Provide
