The mission is to improve health and prevent disease through health promotion, surveillance, and disease prevention\r\nactivities.\r\n<\/span>\r\n<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\r\n<span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">\r\nInfectious diseases are illnesses caused by germs (such as bacteria, viruses, and fungi) that enter the body, multiply, and can cause an infection. Some infectious diseases are contagious (or communicable), meaning they are capable of\r\nspreading from one person to another.\u00a0 Other infectious diseases can be spread by germs carried in air, water, food, or soil.
