The groups (APR-DRGs) are designed to describe the\n\n\n  complete cross-section of patients seen in acute care hospitals. This classification system expands the precision of the basic DRG\n\n\n  concept by adding four subclasses to each group for both severity of illness (SOI) and risk of mortality (ROM).\n\n\n<\/p>\n\n\n<ul>\n\n\n  <li>\n\n\n    <strong>Number of Discharges by Hospital or System<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0 <a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/dph\/xls\/aprdrg_pivot.xls\">2001 &#8211; 2010<\/a>\u00a0<br>\n\n\n    (Includes pivot tables by APR-DRGs, by MDC, by Service Line)<br>\n\n\n    Notes:<br>\n\n\n    3M\u2019s APR-DRGs software uses diagnostic, procedural, and demographic patient data to classify each discharge in a clinically\n\n\n    meaningful category.<br>\n\n\n    <br>\n\n\n  <\/li>\n\n\n  <li>\n\n\n    <strong>Top 25 APR-DRGs by Hospital or System<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/dph\/xls\/aprdrg_top25.xls\" title=\"Excel version of 2009 Top 25 APR-DRGs by Hospital or System\">2009<\/a>\u00a0\u00a0 |\u00a0\u00a0\n\n\n    <a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/dph\/xls\/aprdrg_top252010.xls\" title=\"Excel version of 2010 Top 25 APR-DRGs by Hospital or System\">2010<\/a><br>\n\n\n    Notes:<br>\n\n\n    The top 25 APR-DRGs were identified as those with the 25 highest number of discharges.<br>\n\n\n    <br>\n\n\n    Average length of stay (ALOS) is the average number of days per hospitalization for a particular APR-DRG.<br>\n\n\n    <br>\n\n\n    &#8220;#&#8221; and &#8220;$&#8221; refer to the number of discharges and the mean charges for each APR-DRG.<br>\n\n\n    <br>\n\n\n  <\/li>\n\n\n  <li>\n\n\n    <strong>Severity of Illness &#038; Median Charges by Hospital or System\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong> <a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/dph\/xls\/aprdrg_soimed.xls\" title=\"Excel version of 2009 Severity Of Illness and Median Changes by Hospital or System\">2009<\/a>\u00a0\u00a0 |\u00a0\u00a0 <a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/dph\/xls\/aprdrg_soimed2010.xls\" title=\"Excel version of 2010 Severity Of Illness and Median Changes by Hospital or System\">2010<\/a><br>\n\n\n    Notes:<br>\n\n\n    Severity of Illness (SOI) is classified according to 3M\u2019s APR-DRG system, and is meant as a gauge of the treatment difficulty,\n\n\n    need for intervention, and resource utilization.
