Add in exposure to chemicals in joint compounds and adhesives and there can be a serious\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n        risk for occupational exposure.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n      <\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n      <h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n        Hazards in Drywalling\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n      <\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n      <ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n        <li>CANCER:\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n          <ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n            <li>Sanding and finishing can expose workers to silica, which can cause lung cancer.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n            <\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n            <li>Titanium dioxide, a common ingredient in paints, is considered a potential carcinogen.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n            <\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n            <li>Solvents, paints and other products can contain chemicals that are linked to cancer.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n            <\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n          <\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n        <\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n        <li>RESPIRATORY PROBLEMS:\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n          <ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n            <li>Silicosis &#8211; Exposure to silica dust can lead to permanent lung damage\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n            <\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n            <li>Asthma &#8211; Both the ingredients in paints and the dusts created during renovations can lead to occupational asthma.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n            <\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n          <\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n        <\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n        <li>INJURY AND ILLNESS:\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n          <ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n            <li>Exposure to lead-based paint can lead to severe physical and psychological problems.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n            <\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n            <li>Potential danger of falls from working at heights on ladders or scaffolding.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n            <\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n            <li>Physical injury from lifting heavy object, such as drywall sheets.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n            <\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n          <\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n        <\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n      <\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n      <h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n        Lowering Your Risk\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n      <\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n      <ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n        <li>EDUCATION:\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n          <ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n            <li>Review the MSDS Sheets for the chemicals and products you work with.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n            <\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n            <li>Know the proper procedures for the equipment and materials you use and <em>Follow Them!<\/em>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n            <\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n          <\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n        <\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n        <li>AWARENESS:\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n          <ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n            <li>Before removing or renovating drywall, make sure there is no lead-based paint or asbestos present.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n            <\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n            <li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n              <strong>DO NOT disturb asbestos or lead-based paint unless you are qualified.<\/strong>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n            <\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n            <li>Hold regular safety briefings to make sure everyone is aware of potential hazards and solutions.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n            <\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n          <\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n        <\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n        <li>PROTECTION:\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n          <ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n            <li>Wear the proper Personal Protective Equipment for each activity.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
