An individual applying for\n\n\n\n  this program must require a skilled or intermediate level of care as defined by Delaware Medicaid criteria. In other words, the\n\n\n\n  individual must require the level of care provided by a nursing facility.\n\n\n\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\n\n\n\n  The Elderly and Disabled Waiver program allows an individual to remain in his\/her own home comfortably and safely by providing special\n\n\n\n  community-based services. Those who are eligible for this program can receive, as needed, all regular Medicaid services and also\n\n\n\n  additional Waiver services that Medicaid normally does not cover. These special Waiver services include:\n\n\n\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n\n\n\n  <li>\n\n\n\n    <strong>Case Management &#8211;<\/strong> The DSAAPD case manager is available to help with identifying and obtaining the services necessary\n\n\n\n    for the individual to remain in his home comfortably and safely.\n\n\n\n  <\/li>\n\n\n\n  <li>\n\n\n\n    <strong>Homemaker Services &#8211;<\/strong> A homemaker aide will help with personal care such as bathing and dressing, and can also help\n\n\n\n    with household chores such as light housekeeping and laundry.\n\n\n\n  <\/li>\n\n\n\n  <li>\n\n\n\n    <strong>Medical and Social Day Care<\/strong> &#8211; For this service, an individual goes to a Day Care Center near where he lives during the\n\n\n\n    day. The staff there would provide meals and snacks, nursing services, supervision and recreational and\/or medical therapy.\n\n\n\n  <\/li>\n\n\n\n  <li>\n\n\n\n    <strong>Respite Care &#8211;<\/strong> This service allows an individual to have an aide come to his home to take care of him for short\n\n\n\n    periods of time when his primary caregiver has to be away form the home.
