What is HIPAA Security?

Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act Security Rules are Federal rules that specify a series of administrative, technical, and physical safeguards with organizational and documentation requirements for covered entities to use to assure the availability, confidentiality, and integrity of electronic protect health information.

What is PHI?

Protected Health Information (PHI). Individually identifiable health information that is maintained or transmitted in any form or medium. Protected health information excludes individually identifiable health information in education records covered by the Family Educational Right and Privacy Act (FERPA).
