The purpose of the Investigative Section is to ensure that individuals receiving services in long term care facilities are safe, secure, and free from abuse, neglect, mistreatment, and financial exploitation. The Investigative Section is responsible for:
Through its Incident and Complaint Referral Center (IRC), the Division of Health Care Quality receives information regarding incidents and complaints pertaining to possible abuse, neglect, mistreatment, and/or financial exploitation of residents in long term care facilities. The Division maintains the information in a computerized central database. Investigative staff members of the Division analyze each report and determine what follow-up action is appropriate.
