- Durable Power of Attorney
The Durable Personal Power of Attorney Act is in effect. A Durable Personal Power of Attorney is durable because it is designed to survive the incapacity of the principal. It is personal because it relates only to personal assets and interests, not routine business matters that are specific event targeted and short lived, and it is a power of attorney because it allows one person, the principal, to give authority to another person, the agent, to act on the principal's behalf.

The Division of Long Term Care Residents Protection maintains a listing of all persons in the State of Delaware who have a substantiated case of abuse, neglect, mistreatment, and/or financial exploitation in their backgrounds. Long Term Care Employers and private citizens can now check the Adult Abuse Registry online before hiring a private health care worker or new employee.

This tool provides detailed information about the past performance of nursing homes that are Medicare or Medicaid certified. Visit this site to obtain information about nursing homes in Delaware and the quality of care they provide.
- Long Term Care Ombudsman Program
This Program investigates and resolves complaints made by (or on behalf of) residents of long term care facilities. The program also provides volunteer opportunities for friendly visitors/advocates in nursing homes.
- Adult Protective Services
This program responds to cases of suspected abuse, neglect, or exploitation of impaired adults.
