  3. Increase the partnerships with communities, such as in the 19933 zip code;
  4. Plan additional primary prevention education strategies;
  5. Update the state’s injury prevention plan on prevention of violence; and
  6. Work on an elder abuse protection initiative.

Brief Project Description:

In collaboration with the team’s partners, the overarching project is updating the state’s strategic plan for the prevention of Violent Injury: Assault, Firearm, and Homicide for 2011 – 2016. Primary prevention will be highlighted through initiatives, such as implementing parents’ workshops on bullying, educating about the public on safety measures, and strengthening community partnerships.

Project Outcome:

The multifaceted interventions will be evidenced by: an updated team plan for the Delaware’s Coalition for Injury Prevention’s strategic plan, 2011 - 2016; on-line educational outreach via fact sheets and a TEACH VIP PowerPoint for prevention of violence; and the development of programs that help to decrease violent decision-making behaviors.
