• Areas of Responsibility: Responsible for organizing and presenting training workshops for child care provider certification in Sussex County; scheduling and presenting ServSafe® certification training for food service workers in Sussex County; responding to any FCS related questions that come to this office; using my expertise in aging to make inroads into the aging population in Sussex County by providing informational workshops, etc. to this growing segment of the population.

• Areas of Responsibility: Responsible for training professionals to work with low-income families; basic money management workshops; 4-H Consumer Champions team member; High School Financial Planning Program manager; Bankruptcy Debtor Education workshop; ServSafe® certification training for food service workers in New Castle County; quantity food preparer instructor; health and wellness programs; child care provider trainer; work place workshops; community facilitator.

• Education: B.S. Education Home Economics, Missouri State University; M.S. Food Science, University of Missouri; Ph.D. Food Science, University of Missouri
• Areas of Responsibility: Responsible for developing, implementing and evaluating educational programs and materials in food safety and nutrition, diet and health; training professionals, paraprofessionals and volunteers in the areas of food and nutrition; interpreting research findings for dissemination to general public; coordinating the Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) and Food Stamp Nutrition Education (FSNE) program.

  Kathleen Splane

• Education: B.S. Foods and Nutrition, University of Delaware; M.S. Health Promotion, University of Delaware
• Areas of Responsibility: Responsible for providing programming in the areas of nutrition, food safety, and financial management; developing nutrition and food safety materials and programs; teaching National Restaurant Association ServSafe® course; teaching Dining with Diabetes; providing programming to child care providers to retain licensure; conducting Debtor Education classes for individuals filing for bankruptcy; serving as a resource for Kent County residents in the area of food preservation, food safety, and nutrition.
