HR Training
Conduct mandatory training for new employees consisting of Orientation, Customer Service and Workforce Development; plus additional
mandatory training for supervisors. Teach classes for DHSS employees on a wide range of subjects from stress reduction to problem
solving. Serve as internal consultants for the DHSS automated timekeeping system, including administration and policy. Develop/present
custom-designed programs in Leave Administration.
HR Administration
Respond to employee questions regarding benefits (health, life, dental, pension, etc.) and process paperwork associated with coverage
of benefits. Provide guidance on Merit Rules, such as leave usage. Perform multiple transactions in the automated system impacting pay
and/or benefits, such as promotions or open enrollment for benefit changes.
Applicant Services
Issue job announcements for DHSS vacancies. Qualify and rate applications. Maintain list of
qualified applicants and issue certification lists.
Labor Relations/EEO
Provide guidance and advice to managers and supervisors in managing their employee relations/labor issues. Serve as in-house experts
for interpretation of federal employment laws such as the Family and Medical Leave, Americans with Disabilities Act and Fair Labor
Standards Act. Assist managers in administering DHSS collective bargaining agreements.
