Delaware Rural Health Initiative

The Delaware Rural Health Initiative (DHRI) includes representatives from the Division of Public Health (DPH) and the three southern hospital systems: Bayhealth Medical Center, Beebe Medical Center and Nanticoke Memorial Health System. The DHRI was created as a collaborative vehicle for addressing shared regional health concerns in a more coordinated manner. The goals of the Delaware Rural Health Initiative are to:

Establish a mission to carry a single voice for issues affecting rural Delawareans,
Expand membership and the value derived from membership,
Increase visibility of the new entity throughout the state, and
Strengthen credibility through promoting and completing a collaboratively designed agenda of local initiatives and advocacy.

The Delaware Rural Health Plan Report - June 2000 was designed to present an organized and strategic approach to improving the health of Sussex County residents.
