How do I apply to become a volunteer?
Information about the application and screening process is included in the GBHC Volunteer Application Packet. Briefly, persons interested in volunteering should review the packet, complete an application, and schedule an interview with the volunteer coordinator. Individuals who are considered a good fit and offered a volunteer position will be scheduled to attend a two-hour training session.
How do I set up an interview to become a volunteer?
Contact the Volunteer Services Coordinator to schedule an appointment for an interview. Contact information is included in the GBHC Volunteer Application Packet.
Is there a minimum time commitment required to volunteer?
Volunteers are asked to commit to at least one 3 to 4 hour shift per week for at least 3 months.
When is the best time to apply to volunteer?
Due to holiday preparations and programs, it is highly recommended that interested volunteers consider applying prior to October 1st or after February 1st.
Do you have a program for high school students in the summer time?
Yes. Student Summer Volunteer -Teen program applications are due by May 1st. Student summer orientation is held in June. The minimum age for volunteering without a parent is 14 years old.
Is a flu vaccination required to volunteer?
Flu vaccinations are required from the end of September through May 1st. Volunteers must submit proof of vaccination or may receive a flu shot, free of charge, at GBHC annually (or a mask must be worn).
Is a PPD/TB test required to volunteer?
Volunteers may receive a PPD/TB test, free of charge, at GBHC annually.
