Delaware's Division of Public Health (DPH), in partnership with Delaware's Immunization Coalition, will sponsor a 5K run/walk to remind Delawareans about the importance of immunizations on Sunday, Oct. 3 at Rockford Park in Wilmington. Registration for The Walk To Boost Immunizations can be made on the Races2Run website and on site on race day from 7:30 a.m. at the start point by Rockford Tower. Race time is 8:30 a.m.
The event will also offer flu shots by Rockford Tower from 8:30 a.m. -10:30 a.m.
Medals will be awarded for various categories and T-shirts and refreshments will be provided. The cost to join in the run/walk is $5 if you register in advance or $10 if you register the day of the event. Immunizations have eradicated or slowed the spread of diseases such as polio, measles, and smallpox, saving thousands of lives. But in order to continue fighting disease and its reoccurrence, immunization of susceptible people must continue. Failure to keep ahead of disease can cost lives. DPH challenges everyone to take steps towards prevention with this exciting walking event.
For more information or to register for this event, visit Races2run.com or call 744-1060.
