TRANSITIONING OF MILFORD CLINIC PATIENTS

After establishing that ample community capacity for services exists among area health care providers at 10 separate sites, Delaware's Division of Public Health (DPH) is reducing the hours of service for its sexual and reproductive health clinic at the Milford State Service Center after Sept. 9. Rather than being open five days per week, the clinic will be open on Tuesdays and Fridays, from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. These new hours will begin the week of Sept. 11.

Current patients of the clinic located at 253 NE Front St. in the Riverwalk Shopping Center in Milford were notified by mail on Sept. 7 and provided with options of 10 alternative providers.

DPH sexual and reproductive health clinics provide pregnancy testing, physical exams, birth control education, counseling, screening and treatment of sexually transmitted diseases, HPV vaccination, Pap tests and breast exams.

"Central Delaware's health care community has welcomed the opportunity to serve any additional patients from this reproductive health clinic," said Dr. Karyl Rattay, DPH director. "Given that adequate community capacity for services exists, DPH will focus on providing services that impact the community as a whole, rather than individuals. We'll do this by working with community stakeholders to assure services, evaluating teen pregnancy data, and promoting education so that unwanted pregnancies and sexually transmitted diseases are avoided." DPH informed Milford patients that the following area providers have agreed to receive them immediately at the locations below:
