NEW CASTLE (June 1, 2012) - The DHSS/DPC Garden Market will open to the public for the season on Friday, June 8, outside the Holloway Cafe on the Holloway Campus.
The market - in its second year-will sell produce, herbs and flowers from the client-focused garden. Hours will be from noon to 4 p.m. Fridays. If it rains, the market will move inside to the cafe. The June 8 market is expected to include radishes, spinach, lettuce, Swiss chard and herbs.
Clients at the Delaware Psychiatric Center attend horticulture therapy sessions at the community garden and some clients help to tend and harvest the produce as well. The garden, located on the Holloway Campus, is a joint project of the departments of Health and Social Services and Agriculture. Master Gardeners volunteer to help with the garden throughout the year.
The Holloway Campus is at 1901 N. DuPont Highway, near New Castle. Follow the signs for the cafe.
