NEW CASTLE (Feb.28, 2014) - A statement from Department of Health and Social Services Secretary Rita Landgraf:
Dr. Richard Callery, Chief Medical Examiner, was suspended with pay pending completion of an internal human resources investigation. The suspension was effective on February 25, 2014, and will continue until the investigation is complete.
Hal Brown, Deputy Director of the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, is in charge of the office's operations.
On the other matter within the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, the office is continuing to cooperate with the Delaware State Police investigation of the handling of drug evidence at the Controlled Substances Laboratory.
