The Women’s Auxiliary of the Delaware Hospital for the Chronically Ill (DHCI) was formed in 1966 to enhance the lives of residents. During the 50+ years that the Women’s Auxiliary has been in operation, the group has operated the hospital's gift shop and has held various fundraisers.
The DHCI gift shop is staffed by volunteers and is open Monday-Friday from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm. It offers a selection of gift items, snack foods, drinks, and personal items and is open to the residents, staff, and the public.
All funds raised by the Women's Auxiliary benefit residents. Past purchases have included a new washer and dryer, rocking chairs, bird feeders, and a bingo machine. Funds have also been used to build an accessible fishing pier and pavilion.
