Delaware SNAP Emergency Allotment Benefits Are Ending

The temporary additional benefit amounts (emergency allotments) that were approved by Congress during the COVID-19 pandemic are ending due to the result of recent congressional action. The last emergency allotment benefits will be delivered in February. You will still receive SNAP in March, but benefits will return to regular levels.

To help reduce the impact on households, families can:

SNAP funds can be used for 9 months after they are received, so you can carry over funds for use at a later time.
Stock up on non-perishable items now, while households have the additional benefits.
Stretch food ingredients and plan to use them in more than one meal. This helps to save money and reduce food waste.
Consider freezing your produce to make fruit and vegetables last longer
Look at the Unit Prices to compare similar products at the grocery store

Delawareans in need of food assistance can contact Delaware 2-1-1 to find the nearest food closet or pantry or visit the Food Bank of Delaware's website at fbd.org.

Do you need to report a change?

Please let us know if anything has changed with your household. It is important for us to know your current address, employment, income, expenses (such as rent/mortgage, utilities, child care, and medical costs), and the people in your household. You can report a change by:

Logging in to your Delaware ASSIST account at www.assist.dhss.delaware.gov; or
Calling 1-866-843-7212; or
Calling or visiting your local Division of Social Services or Division of Medicaid and Medical Assistance office.
