MEDICAL NEEDS SHELTERS

Purpose:			The purpose of the Medical Needs Shelter is to provide safe 
				and temporary housing to individuals who require support with 
				their medical needs.

What are Medical 		Medical Needs Shelters are available for people who cannot be

				needs.  These shelters provide a higher level of medical 	
				support than regular public shelters (e.g. Red Cross shelters).

Location of shelters:		Delawareans will be advised through local news media of the 
				location of the Medical Needs Shelters.

Can I bring my pets?		Only service animals are permitted in the shelter. It is best to 
				identify a safe location prior to the emergency as to where your 
				pets will stay.

What will I need to bring	Your caregiver(s) should come with you to the shelter. Items to
with me to the shelter? 	bring include:
				*	Durable medical equipment such as walkers 
					and oxygen tanks
				*	All medications and supplies
				*	Personal items
				*	Any special dietary needs
				*	Important documents such as phone numbers 
					or insurance information

What should I not bring		Weapons, alcoholic beverages, illegal drugs or pets are not
to the shelter?			permitted in the shelter.
