Individuals and groups must be engaged in volunteer activities addressing community needs within the state of Delaware. Nominees may not nominate themselves or be nominated by a family member. Volunteers Urged to Create a Better Delaware Governor-elect Jack Markell is asking Delawareans to contribute thousands of hours of volunteer work between November 24 and a statewide Weekend of Service on Jan. 24-25. The Weekend of Service, during which Markell, his family and supporters will donate their time to nonprofit organizations, will top off the week's inaugural events and celebrations. The weekend will also serve as a replacement for the traditional inaugural ball.
