Caring for someone you love is meaningful—and sometimes overwhelming. Whether you’re helping an older adult, someone with a disability, or raising a relative’s child, you deserve support too.
Delaware offers free and low-cost resources to help you manage the responsibilities of caregiving while also taking care of yourself.

Support Groups
In addition to caregiver groups at resource centers, specialized groups are available through:
Respite Care
Sometimes you need a break. Respite care gives you time to rest, run errands, or take care of yourself while someone else provides short-term care.
Through the Lifespan Respite Program, eligible caregivers can apply for respite vouchers to help cover the cost.
You may qualify if you’re caring for:
- A child or adult with disabilities
- An older adult
- A relative’s child (age 55+ caregivers)
For more information, contact the Delaware Lifespan Respite Care Network through Easterseals of Delaware & Maryland’s Eastern Shore.
Long-Distance Caregiving
If you live far away but still manage or help with a loved one’s care, you’re a long-distance caregiver. You may help with finances, emergency planning, or coordinating in-home services.
You can:
- Call the Delaware ADRC at 1-800-223-9074
- Use the Eldercare Locator at 1-800-677-1116 or visit eldercare.acl.gov to search for local programs across the U.S.
