    Delaware Rural Health Initiative

The Delaware Rural Health Initiative (DHRI) includes representatives from the Division of Public Health (DPH) and the three southern hospital systems:  Bayhealth Medical Center, Beebe Medical Center and Nanticoke Memorial Health System. The DHRI was created as a collaborative vehicle for addressing shared regional health concerns in a more coordinated manner. The goals of the Delaware Rural Health Initiative are to:

    • Establish a mission to carry a single voice for issues affecting rural Delawareans,
    • Expand membership and the value derived from membership,
    • Increase visibility of the new entity throughout the state, and
    • Strengthen credibility through promoting and completing a collaboratively designed agenda of local initiatives and advocacy.

The Delaware Rural Health Plan Report – June 2000 was designed to present an organized and strategic approach to improving the health of Sussex County residents.
